Dog Sitter

For Rachael B:

DOG SITTER
Hi All, we are going out of town this Thursday and will be back late Sunday night. Is anyone willing to watch our dog while we are gone? Ideally, our dog would go to your house so she doesn't bark and bug our neighbors, but I am okay with someone coming to our house and just feeding her, giving her fresh water and playing with her for a bit EVERYDAY. We will pay a responsible child who wants to do this $20.
Thanks,
Rachael B.
Our number is in the directory or my email is rachaelboyle(at)gmail(dot)com.

Ventana Ward Choir Practice

For all you Ventanans out there, I want to make sure you know that choir practice is happening throughout the summer. As a matter of fact, we are scheduled to sing on the 24th! Of July! And I'd rather not be singing a solo. So would you (rather I not sing a solo), truth be told. If you'd rather sing a solo, let Chelsey know

We are practicing every Sunday (except fast Sunday) at 4:00 in the chapel. It's air conditioned! And babysitting is provided (Naomi would much rather play with your kids than sing. Really!)! We need you, and your husbands (not pointing fingers here, but if you do have multiple husbands bring 'em--I won't tell the bishop on you). And your kids if they're interested.

Remember: 4:00. An hour without kids, where all you have to do is sit in coolness and sing out your love for the Lord. (Crockpot recipes available upon request.)

Kids Pottery Class

A new friend from the Volcano Cliffs ward asked me to pass this along . . .
She is a delightful woman and very talented.

Greetings!
I’m a little late in sending this out, but don’t miss this opportunity! I’ve found nothing comparable in variety and price for kids in the ABQ area. The class is located at my home studio on the NW side of town and I hope to have between 3 and 5 students. Please also forward this email to anyone you think would be interested. Thanks! -jennywappett

Ages 6 & up

Monday, JULY 18th -- Thursday, July 21st, 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

AND Friday, July 29th, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $90

Students will experience the fun and variety of clay. We will explore making nature prints, coil pots, sculptures, masks, and also learn how to throw pots on the wheel. The cost includes all clay, glazes, and firing. Your children are welcome to make as much as they would like in our time together and are not limited to the project of the day.

Glazing of the final pieces is done on the Friday of the week following the week of the camp to allow adequate drying and firing time. Final pieces are available for pick up the week after the final firing.

**I’m limiting the class to one session, but if you are interested in doing a pottery class, but can’t accommodate these dates, please let me know and we could possibly schedule another session.

Please email me for a registration form. Deadline for registration is July 9th.

Book Club (the other one....)

Kellie! "Book of a Thousand Days" was a great read. I loved it.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, July 12 at Bethany Ostler's house.

In true Bethany style, she has chosen: "Secrets of the Jedi" by Jude Watson.

To be a Jedi is to safeguard peace in the galaxy. To be a Jedi is to defend justice against tyranny. To be a Jedi is to rely on the Force. To be a Jedi is to not love or live as normal people do…at whatever the price.

Jedi know that love is not meant to be for them. But when Obi-Wan Kenobi and his fellow apprentice Siri Tachi approach a very Human falling, the reverberations are felt for many years…to when Obi-Wan has an apprentice of his own, Anakin Skywalker, whose secrets will draw Obi-Wan and Siri further into the Clone Wars.

There is a little Jedi in each of us. I have 4 of them walking around my house. This book should be a great read.

I also think that we should come up with a name for our book club so as to not confuse it with the other book club. We can also do a little more discussing of possibly changing the day that we meet. Tell your hubby to skip basketball this one time. (wink to Jenny!)

Get in touch with the force and get this book. Can't wait to see you all there!!

Southwest sale

For anyone looking to travel this fall, southwest airlines is having an awesome sale, you must book by the 23rd. For travel from 8/23 - 11-16.

Attention

Hello fellow Ventana Ranch WEST HOA neighbors!

Lots of us have discussed (and lots of our neighbors) the annoying boulders blocking the bike paths that lead through our community. We can't fit strollers, bike trailers, or sometimes even just bicycles through them. They did this to prevent ATV traffic, which is understandable along the desert exits in the community, but ALL the trails strictly inside the community? I'm talking about the paths that lead around our community and down through Ventana Ranch. We who like to bike or walk/jog lots with our kids feel trapped! I don't like taking my little kids down Paseo or Irving. Many of us keep saying we are going to write the HOA, and I finally did! They are reviewing my letter right now. I kept it very positive, upbeat and simple. I'm wondering, if any of you were thinking of writing to the HOA to petition them to remove the boulders, now would be a great time!:) Only if you want to. The new community manager is named Kimberly, and her email is: kimberly (at) hoamco (dot) com. Just include who you are and why the boulders are a nuisance to you.
Thanks! Anneliese M.

Home sweet Home

Do you know anyone looking to buy a home in Ventana West? We are selling ours and of course want to sell it to someone wonderful! You can email me at hatch(dot)amy(at)gmail(dot)com

Massage anyone?

My friend that lives in Ventana Ranch West has a set up in her home for massage therapy. If you go to like Massage Envy, it's like $65 an hr. I told her that I knew some people who might be interested, so we talked about doing like a 1st time special...to get her business going. So, she is doing a first time appointment at $35 for an hr. What a deal! She is available to set up appointments starting June 27th. Just tell her that you go to church with me...so you can get her special...and not her retail price.

Call Ceptember at 803-0989

Thanks Andrea R.

Need a place to rent!!

Friday flag football

Hey mothers of boys ages 9-12! Kobe wanted to get something started this summer as far as getting boys together to play a variety of sports.

So this Friday around 10:00am at Terrazas Park we will be playing flag football. All boys ages 9-12 who are interested are welcome and invited.

Bring water, as it is starting to warm up by that time.

Also, if you think about it, leave a comment or shoot be an email (stef.burns at gmail.com) that way we can make sure that we have enough equipment and boys to have a successful time.

Thanks!

FYI, I am going crazy. Anyone else???

Baby Backpack Carrier???????

We are going hiking this week with some visiting family members. I'm looking to borrow a baby backpack carrier that is some what similar to the one pictured above. If you have one that you would let me borrow sometime on Thursday, I'll return it to you on Saturday. I promise I'll take good care of it. Email me at kesler999{at}msn{dot}com. Thank you!! :)
My niece, Ivory, just graduated high school and is trying to earn money for college. She is available for babysitting, yard work, cleaning, etc. Please call if you have any work for her.

Looking for a Vet and an Eye Doctor

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a veterinarian. I need to get my dog's shots updated.

I'm also looking for an eye doctor that does gas permeable (hard) contact lenses.

Any help would be appreciated! Email me at tim (dot) sara (dot) rauch (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks!

Book Club

Book club meets this Thursday night at 7:30 in my gazebo in the backyard (pending the wind- if it's too annoying we'll tromp inside). Bring a jacket/blanket because it'll be down around 60 or so.
We're discussing "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman. Come even if you didn't read it to hear about a fun book (or just come later to socialize- we finish the book discussion usually before 9.) Treats and newcomers are always welcome. Stay as long as you like. Chit-chat ends anywhere from 10:30-midnight.

Just a reminder...

Just thought I would send out a little reminder that my art class,Color Crazed, is starting soon. If your child is interested please register (just let me know if you are going to attend for sure- but you don't have to pay until the first day) no later then June 21st - we would love to have your child join us! Here is more info:
Color Crazed
Dates: June 23, 24, 27, 28
Times: 10am- 11:30am
Cost: $45
Register by: June 21
*This class is geared for younger children ages 4-6.

Let your creative juices fly in this wackiest of wacky art classes! You'll explore with different materials everyday to create a new art project (or be the project). I'll supply the out-of-this-world materials, teach you the art skill, and then give you the outline. ...The rest is up to you. You'll make, create, sew, and paint. You'll wear, tear, squish and squirt. You'll sponge, stamp, peal and wipe. This is your not-so-everyday-art-projects with your mommy-never-lets-me-use-those-at-home materials. Everyday will have a theme. However, not every project relates to the theme - it just adds to the zaniness.

Thursday: Spots N' Dots - Come dressed in spots and dots!
Friday: Big Bang - Come dressed like a mad scientist!
Monday: Wet N' Wild - Wear your bathing suit under your normal clothes and bring a towel!
Tuesday: Crazy hat or hair day!
Thanks,
Rachael B.

Extra Money??

I have been watching a **sweet and very well behaved** 4 month old baby girl this summer.  However, I will be out of town for 3 weeks of the summer and am looking for a fill-in.  The weeks are: the last week of June and the first two week of August.  The mother of the baby girl hasn't been able to find anyone for those weeks so she asked me to ask around. You would watch her every Tuesday (7-4), Wednesday (8-5), and Thursday (7-4) for those 3 weeks.  The pay is $125/week.  If anyone is interested please email me for more details at jakeandemily [at] hotmail [dot] com.  Thanks!

Roof repair

Anyone have any good recommendations for a (hopefully cheap) handyman or roof repair guy? Like everyone else, we had several shingles come off and get damaged this spring, and Aaron just doesn't have the time to get on the roof and do it himself. Email me at chelsey DOT jorgensen AT gmail DOT com if you have any recommendations.

Help with mowing lawn

Anyone have a kid that wants to earn $20? Our lawn is out of control after our trip, and our reel mower (as much as I love it) just won't cut it. It's not a huge backyard, but they'd need to bring a lawn mower with a bagger (or rake up the clippings if there isn't one). Let me know if your old-enough son or daughter is interested! Email me at chelsey DOT jorgensen AT gmail DOT com or call me.

More Movie Deals

Can you tell that I really like to go to the movies??? So here's another movie ticket deal for you. If you buy certain packages of M and Ms you can win a free movie ticket or $3 off a movie ticket. I bought 3 packages of 1.69 ounce M and Ms at our Walgreens today and entered the codes you find inside. All 3 were winners of $3 off a movie or concession. So I paid $2 and received $9 in movie cash. The M and Ms were just a bonus! I am not promising that will all be winners, but I have heard they are pretty high odds. Be sure they have the movie ticket promo on the outside.

Free Swim Anyone???

Summer Swim Free Day Pass for kids....to most pools around Albuquerque, including a few splash parks! You can go to a fire station or a police station to pick them up. They want to keep kids out of ditches, because ditches are deadly, so they give these out early in June. I went last week and they didn't have them, I went today and they did. They run out quickly, but then they are given more, but they told me today that sometimes they don't come for a few days later. I went to the fire station off of Lyons and Paradise...right behind the Allsups! From Andrea R.
