Temple on Friday

I know that Friday is the Stake Day of Consecration, and Aaron and I would love to be able to go to a session together. Anyone interested in swapping babysitting that day? We've got three kids ages 4, 3, and 1.5. We could make it to a 5:00 pm or later session, so I'd be happy to watch kids anytime during the day on Friday or on another day if that works better for you. Call me or email me to let me know if you are interested.

Help for Haiti

"The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints appealed today to the worldwide membership of the Church to help relieve the suffering in Haiti. In a statement published on the Church’s official Web site, Church President Thomas S. Monson and counselors Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F. Uchtdorf said they are “keenly aware that many in America are dealing with economic challenges brought on by the recent recession.” Many Church members have made substantial contributions to Church Humanitarian Services, but more is needed."

"The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement today:

"Our hearts are filled with sadness as we have watched the suffering in Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake. We turn to the example of Jesus Christ who reached out to “lift up the hands which hang down” and “strengthen the feeble knees.” We are keenly aware that many in America are dealing with economic challenges caused by the recession. However, we are appealing to members to donate to Church Humanitarian Services as their means allow in order to help our Haitian brothers and sisters. Many have already contributed and others are anxious to do so."

"Money is not the only need in Haiti. People are frightened, bewildered, and wholly uncertain about their future. In addition to what people can do in helping with food, water and shelter, there needs to be a calming influence over that troubled nation. We invite our people everywhere to supplicate God for a spirit of calm and peace among the people as urgent aid and reconstruction efforts continue." LDS Newsroom

Donations to help Haiti are handled through LDS Philanthropies and can be made by clicking here.

Vanilla bean

I was at costco, and their vanilla beans were only $5 for 10 (normally $15), so I bought one, but I don't think I will use 10 of them before they go bad. There are 2 tubes of 5 beans per package, so would anyone like one of the tubes of 5? I just don't want to waste any. It would only be $2.50. Let me know. Thanks!

Temp. Nanny Needed!

Ok, so Autumn B. asked me to post this on here. She is being promoted at her job which is really awesome, but she will not have anyone to watch her kids for the first 2 weeks because she is moving to day shifts! Let her know if you know of someone who could nanny for her 3 kids. (they are super cute kids BTW) Preferably, someone who could come to their house. If you know of anyone who could do that, or have any other way to help her out, she would greatly appreciate it! Her phone number is in the directory or you could e-mail kirk at kirknum30(at)hotmail(dot)com. Thanks!

CHANGE--January Book Club

We will be moving the book club to Thursday, January 28. This is one week later than the originally scheduled time. We had several people who had conflicts for the original date, so hopefully this will resolve that. This will also give you more time to get ahold of and read the book. It's quite illuminating, and I've heard from several husbands that Dr. Laura is dead on!

Book: The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands
Author: Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Date: Thursday, January 28
Time: 7:30
Location: Shelley S. home

We found a dog tonight when we were getting in our car. If you know who this dog belongs to please have them contact me ASAP.

Props for the book in January

I also have an extra copy of "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" by Dr. Laura. I REALLY enjoyed reading this book and think it has changed how I view my marriage. It is a wonderful book. You've got time to finish it before the next meeting- it's only 180 pages. Please come to the meeting- the more opinions we have about marriage the better the discussion will be.

Crafting 2010

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great holiday season with friends and family.  For this month, we will be making wreaths.  Your choice--round or heart.  We are not limiting to just the two examples shown, so be creative! Have you wanted and Easter Wreath?  Bring some old plastic eggs and glue them on or some cute pastel fabric. Have you wanted a Flower wreath? Bring your favorite flowers (preferably silk since they are less fragile than dried). The possibilities are endless.

Example #1. Romance Novel.  Go to the local dollar store and pick up a steamy novel (you can read it if you would like).  If you liked it too much, go get another one, otherwise, rip out the pages and glue them on and .... poof...you have a cool wreath!

Example #2: Be my Valentine: Go to Hobby Lobby (I just happen to love their fabric) and pick out the cutest Valentine fabric. Go home and cut it into squares.  Then come to craft night and turn those squares of fabric into this one of a kind wreath!

When: Tuesday, January 26th
Time: 7:30pm
Place: Chelsie L. house
Supplies:  Chelsie will get the basics (ie: glue and foam wreaths).
You need to bring what you want to decorate it with.
RSVP: chelsie_larson[at]hotmail[dot]com by January 12th.
Price: TBA

hemming/ sewing maching request

Brother Barrie from our ward bought a too-big table cloth and wants to hem one side down. He says that he knows how to sew but has no sewing machine. He is wondering if anyone from the ward can lend him their machine for a few hours (or he will even come to your house to use it there) or if anyone is willing to hem one side of this cloth for him. If you don't know Brother Barrie, he was one of the priesthood brethren at the Super Saturday activity sitting in the corner doing paperwork and has been in the ward since August or September.
If you're willing to help him out please send him an email at jon(at)jonbarrie(dot)com or call him at 999-2118.
