Run for Stephen

Another Run for Stephen
Our neighbor, Makaila is organizing a 5K run/walk in Stephen's honor set for the 21st of this month. She's already got local radio station 93.3 KOB FM on board and they have already announced the date last Monday.

She will return to KOB's studio to be interviewed on the air Thursday morning about the event she's putting together. Apparently the radio station is even planning to change their name on the day of the run to 93.3 STEPHEN Radio.

We are so grateful for her big heart and wonderful actions. Thank you Makaila.

Here is the info she has provided:

YOUNG TEEN TO ORGANIZE RELAY FOR YOUNG CANCER PATIENT:
17 year old Makaila Rodriguez is organizing a Non-competitive 5K Run/Walk for 7 year old Stephen Peterson, who was recently diagnosed with cancer

Albuquerque, N.M. – 17 year old Makaila Rodriguez a high school senior, is making an effort to help care for 7 year old Stephen Peterson, her next-door neighbor whom she has babysat. Stephen was recently diagnosed with cancer last fall and in March put on hospice. Makaila wants to organize a 5K Run/Walk in an effort to help his family. This event would be a non-competitive 5K Run/Walk. There is no fee, however donations will be accepted for Stephen’s Family. All proceeds are going to help Stephen’s family, as Makaila herself states “This day is about coming together as a community, where the Hope and Intention is to raise up Stephen and his family in Love, Compassion, and Prayer; Where we will show up as individuals and come together as one big family, after all we as a community are a family, and what does a family do? We take care of each other.”
