Anyone have a place they get soil or natural fertilizer for their garden? We're preparing a fairly large sized corner of our yard-for the first time, and I wanted to get all of your great tips! Thanks all! Angela B.
We've had a lot of success with plain old steer manure and peat moss from Wal-mart. When prepping the soil we followed the directions on the bag- something like 3 inches manure on top of your topsoil and 1 1/2 inches of peatmoss (or as heavy as you'd like.) Then just use a shovel and turn them all over. We've got 2 good sized gardens and I loaded my minivan up to capacity twice with the smelly stuff, which was cheaper than having some fancy stuff delivered from Western Organics, which is way off Edith and Caesar Chavez.....
